Nympheas Effet du Soir Painting Poster Vintage Fine Art Giclee Print by Claude Monet
This is a fine art giclee print of a Claude Monet impressionism painting entitled ' Nympheas Effet du Soir' featuring water lilies on a pond. Claude Monet was born in Paris on the 14th of November, 1840 and was an initiator, leader, and unswerving advocate of the Impressionist style. When he was five years old, he moved to the port town of Le Havre. The only subject which seemed to spark any interest in the child was painting. Monet had said that he ' understands' and ' loves nature' and was very fond of the world outdoors. Despite failing eyesight, Monet continued to paint almost to the time of his death, on December 5, 1926, at Giverny. ENJ 771 Basket-Of-Fish Georges Braque 1910
This is a fine art giclee print of a classic abstract painting by Georges Braque entitled "Basket of Fish" done in 1910. The work of Georges Braque and other cubists exemplified the aesthetic , yet could not stand entirely independent of the burgeoning art deco movement. Two contemporaneous art forms could not help but influence one another at a time when anything that was labeled "modern" was eagerly grasped by a public that embraced the future. They were , of course , both powered by other sets of influences that pervaded society. African Tribal art and Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes for example inspired art deco artists and cubists alike. The art deco movement grew from the roots of Art Nouveau and the Arts and Craft moveent and was partly designed by the desire to harmoniz all elements of any context. Cubism by contrast aimed to produce art that stood alone independent of its context. Cubist art studied the effect of colour and form and aimed to envoke emotion as a singular entity. Leon Bakst Costume Design for a Bacchante in 'Narcisse' by Tcherepnin, 1911
This is a fine art giclee print of a painting by Leon Bakst entitled "Costume Design for a Bacchante in Narcisse by Tcherephin " done in 1911. Bakst was born in Russia but devided much of his working life between Paris and St Petersburg. Trained at the imperial academy of arts in St Petersburg, Bakst found employment as a scenery and costume designer for Sergei Diaghilev the founder of the Ballets Russes. When Diaghilev brought his ballet company to Paris, the bold and vibrant colours of the sets and costumes sent shockwaves throught he world of fashion. The sudued tasteful and classic colours of art Nouveau suddenly appeared dowdy and dull compared to the outrageous and sumptuousness of BAKST'S DESIGNS. Dwawing his inpirations from the Orient,Bakst decorated his exotic costumes with beads and feathers. ENJ780 Edouard Benedictus Book Plate 1 from Relais Quinze Planches Donnant Quarante -deux Motifs Decoratifis 1930
This is a fine art giclee print of a painting by Edouard Benedictus entitled "Book Plate 1" from Relais,Quinze Planches Donnant Quarante-deux motifs Decoratifis done in 1930. Fauvism influenced the bold, almost unnatural colours f Art Deco pattern and fabric design, and the influence of Cubism was just as important. Cubism was an intellectual revolt against the soft, expressive art forms of the nineteenth century and the Fauvists. Cubist painters sought ways to achieve depth other than through a scientifically calculated perspective. They examined still life objects and discovered a new way to imply three dimmensions. Each form was fragmented or broken up and replaced to enable the viewer to simultaneously observe an object from different angles. Cubis pictures commony incorporated geometric shapes and gave objects from nature hard and angular edges.
