Adams Brothers Polar Bear CircusEnlarge

Adams Brothers Polar Bear Circus

This is a very high quality fine art giclee reproduction print of a vintage advertising art poster for the circus. It features an amusing scene with three Polar Bears playing on a see-saw! Adams Brothers International Circus with Polar Bears in 1958. Founded by William Adam Griffith, the Adams Bros. Circus was born in 1958, springing from Griffith's fascination with the traveling shows that passed through his hometown of Appleton, WI. With a full program, his circus played baseball parks and indoor dates, and was advertised as ""America's cleanest show,"" which was no overstatement as it operated without graft or gambling. Eventually assumed into the Sells Brothers circus, this poster remains as a reminder of their glory days spend grabbing for the elusive brass ring. At the moment, this ferocious polar trio appears to be quite content to spend some quality time on the seesaw. And whether or not this is a case of artistic license, the upper-case ""A"" bright red fulcrum does an excellent job of reinforcing the circus' name without heavy-handed repetition. See Adams Brothers Polar Bear Circus enlarged or framed.

1939 anonymous United States of America

In April of 1939 the New York World's Fair, Themed 'Building The World of Tomorrow,' opened on what was once a marshy wasteland in Flushing Meadows, just east of the great metropolis. From its inception to its closing ceremonies, the Fair promoted one of the last great metanarratives of the Machine Age: the unqualified belief in science and technology as a means to economic prosperity and personal freedom. Join the World’s Fairs Circus and Expos with a Vintage Print During the retro period of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, there was not the overabundance of entertainment that there is available to the people of today. Back then, the appeal of seeing exotic animals from foreign countries was enough to entice them to bring their families for a day at the World’s Fair or the Circus, which appeared annually in big cities throughout the United States. Among those World fairs which were most attended and renowned was the New York Tomorrow World’s Fair and the Chicago World’s fair. The New York World’s fair was one of the largest attended fairs in the 30’s and 40’s with over 44 million people attending. The Chicago World’s Fair was so successful in 1933 that it ran again the following year, despite economic disturbance of the Great Depression.
