Cunard/Queen Elizabeth/Queen Mary Fine Art Vintage Giclee Print

This is a vintage fine art giclee print by Walter Thomas featuring the Queen Mary, in the forefront, and Queen Elizabeth, in the background, of The Cunard White Star Line. After World War II, the Cunard Line was finally able to put both of its Queens into service. Although the Queen Mary had taken to the seas in 1936, she left Great Britain in 1940 without a single passenger in order to escape the potential devastation of German bombing; her maiden voyage with customers arrived in October 1946, which would explain her prominent placement in the fore of this Thomas design. Cunard Line/Etats-Unis et Canada Fine Art Vintage Giclee Print

This is a vintage fine art giclee print a huge ocean-liner by the Cunard Line. An unfortunate oversight resulted in the inclusion of this piece as an anonymous work, when in fact it was designed by the Russian-born Broodovitch, who upon emigrating to Paris in 1917 became ' one of the most gifted graphic artsists of the period, on par with Cassandre, but he submerged his own career to teach and direct others. In Paris he designed sets for the Ballets Russes and did page designs for Arts et Metiers Graphiques. In 1930 he moved to the United States as a guest of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which was creating an advertising art department and museum school' .
