ENJ 771 Basket-Of-Fish Georges Braque 1910

This is a fine art giclee print of a classic abstract painting by Georges Braque entitled "Basket of Fish" done in 1910. The work of Georges Braque and other cubists exemplified the aesthetic , yet could not stand entirely independent of the burgeoning art deco movement. Two contemporaneous art forms could not help but influence one another at a time when anything that was labeled "modern" was eagerly grasped by a public that embraced the future. They were , of course , both powered by other sets of influences that pervaded society. African Tribal art and Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes for example inspired art deco artists and cubists alike. The art deco movement grew from the roots of Art Nouveau and the Arts and Craft moveent and was partly designed by the desire to harmoniz all elements of any context. Cubism by contrast aimed to produce art that stood alone independent of its context. Cubist art studied the effect of colour and form and aimed to envoke emotion as a singular entity.
