Jane Derval Folies Bergere Fine Art Giclee Print
This is a fine art giclee print by Georges De Feure featuring Jane Derval dancing in a flowing, fauna-studded red dress for the Folies Bergere. The Folies Bergère is a Parisian music hall which was at the height of its fame and popularity from the 1890s through the 1920s. As of 2007 the institution is still in business. The background is a plant motif, but above all, it is the fabric of the dress, gracefully studded with plants among which birds fly, which reveals (as do the jewels) de Feure's interest in the applied arts. Although the artist lived and worked for almost 40 years more, this 1904 work was his last poster. He could not have known that through it Derval, like many another Belle Epoque performers, would be rescued from oblivion.
The quick frame option comes ready to hang and framed as shown, with acrylic glass and a solid wood black frame, no mats.
