Europe America Cunard Oceanline Poster Fine Art Vintage Giclee Print
This is a vintage fine art giclee print featuring travel to Europe and America by way of the Cunard Line oceanliners. Cunard Line was established in 1839 by Samuel Cunard as The British and North American Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. The company was founded to carry the Royal Mail between England, the U.S. and Canada. Its first ships were the 1,154-ton paddle steamers Britannia, Acadia, Caledonia and Columbia and they could make the transatlantic journey in 14 days (at a speed of 8.5 knots). Since Cunard Line introduced the world's first regularly scheduled transatlantic liner service (in 1840), the company has launched some 180 ships and claimed a whole host of historic firsts.
