Vincent Van Gogh Starry Night over the Rhone, 1888 Fine Art Giclee Print

This is a fine art giclee print of a painting by legendary artist Vincent Van Gogh entitled 'Starry Night over the Rhone' painted in 1888. Starry Night over the Rhone is one of Vincent van Gogh's more popular paintings of Arles at night. The location of this particular spot was less than a mile from the Yellow House on the Place Lamartine where Van Gogh was renting at the time. Sine painting at night was more challenging it intrigued Va Gogh. He carefully chose the location for the Starry Night over the Rhone which captured the reflections of the gas lighting in Arles across the glimmering blue water of the Rhône. The sky is illuminated by the constellation Ursa Major (the Great Bear). In the foreground, two lovers stroll by the banks of the river. Depicting color was of great importance to Van Gogh. In letters to his brother, Theo van Gogh, he often described objects in his paintings in terms of color. His night paintings, including Starry Night over the Rhone, emphasize the importance he placed in capturing the sparkling colors of the night sky and the artificial lighting that was new to this period. Van Gogh Cypress Trees Fine Art Giclee Print

This is a high quality fine art giclee print of a painting done by impressionist Vincent Van Gogh entitled ' Cypress Trees' . It is interesting to note that Van Gogh didn't start out to be an artist but a missionary. But through the years he became very aware of scenes around him and of the everyday people. In 1880, Vincent followed the suggestion of his brother Theo and took up an earnest study of art. When he was 27, in 1880, he went to Brussels, intending to follow his brother's recommendation to study with the prominent Dutch artist Willem Roelofs. Roelofs persuaded the reluctant Van Gogh to attend the Royal Academy of Art where he not only studied anatomy, but the standard rules of modeling and perspective, all of which, he said, ' you have to know just to be able to draw the least thing.' Vincent wished to become an artist while in God's service as he stated, ' to try to understand the real significance of what the great artists, the serious masters, tell us in their masterpieces, that leads to God, one man wrote or told it in a book, another in a picture.' It?s hard to tell if Vincent Van Gogh was just a crazy sort or a brilliant free-spirited artist, for his life was one of complicated and strange events which has contributed to his fame. Perhaps it was a little bit of both, which makes his fans so intrigued by Van Gogh?s paintings and original works of art. The tragic truth of Vincent Van Gogh is that in that brief 38 years that he was alive, he produced more high quality fine art than many other artists of any era, including those modern painters of today. Van Gogh?s fascinating life began in 1853, in the Netherlands. He was destined to be a pastor, but after a year of theology school in 1880 he left his life and went to Belgium to begin his art studies. He was a restless soul with many intriguing stories in those years following, including living in poverty and cohabitating with a prostitute named Sien. Throughout his early adulthood he used art as a way of expressing his volatile personality, which is evident in many of his styles of painting.
