Van Gogh moved to a town called Arles a couple of years later and stayed in Hôtel-Restaurant Carrel. During this period he started painting the Sunflower Art series. The first of these Sunflower wall hangings included the famous “Vase with Twelve Flowers”, an oil painting that may be one of most colorful and cheerful art pieces of Van Gogh’s career. During this time frame Van Gogh also painted a lot of landscape scenes like The Cafe Terrace painting, which can be found here at Enjoy Art. This is also unfortunately when Van Gogh really started losing his mind. His famous incident of cutting off his own ear due to an argument with his estranged friend Gauguin was just the tip of the iceberg. Van Gogh spent some time in the hospital in critical condition, although he eventually recovered. By May of 1890 Van Gogh had himself committed to a mental hospital but continued painting many of his best oil paintings of all – like the favorite “Starry Nights” print on canvas that later sold at an auction an astounding $82 million dollars in the 21st Century. Not long thereafter, Van Gogh walked in a field and shot himself in the chest, suffering for a full two days before he succumbed to his injuries. Unfortunately for Van Gogh, he became more famous after he died. His life seemed to be tragically intriguing to people for centuries after his death. At Enjoy Art you can get many renditions of Van Gogh’s artwork at a lower price than you would pay for the original oil paintings. Spice up your life up with a Van Gogh Sunflower series or snazz up the billiard room with the Skull smoking a cigarette canvas print only from EnjoyArt.com. Vincent Van Gogh is one of our favorite and most admired artists, despite his unusually fascinating and dark existence as an artist and talented painter.
